Meet our new Regional Coordinator Lynette Anderson

CheckUP was delighted to have Lynette Anderson join our team in September as the Regional Coordinator for North Queensland.

Lynette is a proud Warrgamay woman, but now calls Townsville home.  Having always worked in health, she has a natural drive to give back to the community.

“I did my nursing training at the Charters Towers Hospital in 1987 then worked throughout the hospitals in North West Queensland, from Mount Isa to Townsville, before moving to Townsville permanently in 2003,” she said.

“Prior to CheckUP, I worked for 18 years within the community-controlled health sector, spending my time between QAIHC and Townsville Aboriginal and Islander Health Service (TAIHS).

“I worked in both clinical and management roles over this time and have a real passion for Indigenous health and workforce development in rural areas. I have been fortunate to work at a local, state, and national level whilst in the community-controlled sector.”

As a Regional Coordinator, Lynette supports the delivery of efficient and effective outreach funded services by maintaining regular contact with our service providers.

“Since coming to CheckUP, I have enjoyed the friendly staff and the autonomous way of working,” she said.

“My day is kept busy reviewing and completing contract variations, assisting with coordination of services, attending meetings, linking health care providers with each other, and ensuring partnerships are maintained or strengthened.

“I really enjoy the community engagement aspect of the Regional Coordinators role that allows me to build professional and personal relationships with community members, groups and service providers. I get excited about being part of enhancing community knowledge on issues they seek to address and being part of the solution by encouraging community members to co-create knowledge and understanding and then apply that knowledge.”

When she’s not working Lynette loves being in the bush, enjoying camping and fishing with family and friends. A proud mother of three boys, Lynette is also a North Queensland Cowboys supporter and loves to cook.

“My new interest is cake decorating,” she said.
