CheckUP Board Update

We are pleased to announce following our recent Annual General Meeting, CheckUP welcomed two new Board Directors, Dr David Rowlands and Dr Tina Janamian.

Jennifer Pouwer was also re-elected and is now the Deputy Chair of the CheckUP Board. Colin Duff was re-elected as Board Chair and Dr Roger Halliwell will remain as Board Director and Chair of Finance and Risk Management (FARM) Committee.

Meet our new Board Directors:

Dr David Rowlands

David has been a General Practitioner on the Gold Coast for 30 years. He is a Queensland graduate who served as a Medical Officer in the Royal Australian Army Medical Corps, prior to working in Accident and Emergency in the United Kingdom.

David is a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors, and has over 20 years’ experience as a Company Director. He has just retired from the Gold Coast PHN Board where he served as Chair for the past four years. Previously he was Chair of the Gold Coast Medicare Local and of the Gold Coast Division of General Practice.


Dr Tina Janamian

Dr Tina Janamian is currently the General Manager of Education and Innovation for the AGPAL Group of Companies. She is responsible for leading a dynamic team to develop and deliver on education and training to over 400 contractors and over 10,000 clients nationally. She has an academic background in primary health care and extensive experience strategically leading centres of research excellence to support Australia’s health care reform. Tina has a track record of effectively collaborating with a range of stakeholders and strengthening partnerships with industry, health care professionals, policy makers and consumers to co-deliver on complex multidisciplinary initiatives and services. In the past 10 years, Tina has won and successfully delivered nationally on $30m worth of projects and tenders for Federal and State government and health organisations related to education and training, evaluations, health care transformation, workforce development, integrated care and implementation of innovative models of care. Additionally, Tina has considerable experience in business development and commercialisation across various industries.

Tina is passionate about improving health service delivery across different settings to support better patient experience and outcomes, particularly for those most vulnerable. She brings to the CheckUp Board, extensive experience in primary health care, contemporary governance structures and senior management, as well as strong stakeholder, partnership and business development skills.
