CheckUP attends the 2019 National RAP Conference
The second annual National RAP Conference was held in Perth last week and was attended by over 400 people committed to, and passionate about, reconciliation. The conference proved to be an excellent opportunity for CheckUP to connect with other like minded organisations and listen to thought provoking orations, as we finalise our third RAP, a Stretch RAP. With the theme “Walking Together, Working Together”, it was an important forum to share ideas and be inspired by other RAP champions from across Australia.
Some of the powerful quotes from the conference:
"The past matters. What we know about it colours what we believe and what we do. It's impossible to understand the need for RAPs now without understanding where we've come from." - Fred Chaney AO
"Cultural competency is not just about learning. It's about feeling what it feels like to be part of the solution."
“The reconciliation movement has allowed for critical conversations to occur and this has resulted in substantial, substantive and positive movement in the lives of Indigenous people across Australia”.
