  • Domestic and Family Violence Prevention Month

    Take up the challenge to put an end to domestic and family violence. Every one of us has a role to play in changing the culture, attitudes and systems that underpin violence in our community. The Queensland Government is implementing the Not Now, Not Ever campaign to raise community awareness and encourage community participation during Domestic and Family Violence Prevention Month in May.

  • National Reconciliation Week

    National Reconciliation Week 27 May – 3 June The dates commemorate two significant milestones in the reconciliation journey— the successful 1967 referendum and the High Court Mabo decision. The week is a time for all Australians to learn about our shared histories, cultures and achievements and to explore how each of us can join the national reconciliation effort.

  • CheckUP Innovate RAP Launch

    To celebrate Reconciliation Action Week, we will be launching our Innovate Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) 2016 - 2018. A light morning tea will be provided. An overview will be given of the work that CheckUP has accomplished and is implementing through the new Innovate RAP to achieve the aim of better health outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and people.

These locally tailored events create the right setting for conversations about the elements that make us healthy - that’s why our 2016 theme HEALTH ELEMENTS is about encouraging communities to start those conversations about the elements of life that build health and life’s purpose.

    Seniors Minister Coralee O’Rourke said the campaign ‘There’s no excuse for elder abuse’ was being launched in the lead up to World Elder Abuse Awareness Day, to create awareness around this unacceptable behaviour and ways it could be addressed.

    'Homelessness Counts' is the theme for Homelessness Week 2016. Through this Homelessness Australia is encouraging all to recognise that those experiencing homelessness are a valuable part of our society and must be supported!

  • National Aboriginal & Islander Children's Day

    National Aboriginal and Islander Children’s Day (NAICD) is a celebration of Indigenous children and is held on 4 August each year. NAICD was first observed by the Secretariat of National Aboriginal and Islander Child Care (SNAICC) in 1988. Each year SNAICC produces and sends out resources to help celebrations for NAICD.

  • International Day of the World's Indigenous People

    The International Day of the World’s Indigenous People (9 August) was first proclaimed by the General Assembly in December 1994, to be celebrated every year during the first International Decade of the World’s Indigenous People (1995 – 2004). In 2004, the Assembly proclaimed a Second International Decade of the World’s Indigenous People from 2005.

The QPHCN is a group of almost 80 state level primary health and community care related organisations, who have come together with a common interest - to network, share information and gain a collective understanding of the opportunities and challenges facing primary healthcare in Queensland. Network members incorporate state level non-government, community, consumer and allied health organisations.
